Creating a Safe Space
I recently posted a poll on LinkedIn and one person's response really stood out to me because, well, she gets it. She gets what I've been saying for all these years and it was nice to hear it from somebody else. A poll I conducted asked people what skill they thought was the most important to master as a leader, and she voted for "Create a safe space" and discussed her reasoning. She goes on to say that in order to create a safe space, managers or leaders first have to listen, communicate, and establish a relationship based on trust. Voilà! There you have it. That's why I emphasize safe spaces so much. People often overlook their significance. But in essence, a safe space encompasses all the good qualities a leader should have.
