Give Employees a Voice

One of the first things I do on a retail level when I first hire someone is I say, “Listen, just because we’ve done this a million times this way doesn’t mean it’s the right way. I want you to come in with an open mind and if you think there’s a better way to do it then let’s try it.” That method has always really worked for me because it allows for innovation and gives employees the chance to voice their opinions. I believe that there’s no such thing as perfection. We can always improve – so I like to give the employees that chance to do so. That has worked well for us.
